What is multiple sclerosis (MS)?
MS is a lifelong condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing symptoms like blurred vision or problems with moving, thinking and feeling. There are more than 130,000 people in the UK living with MS and each year, around 7,000 people are diagnosed.
"By developing a deeper understanding of MS and all it encompasses, as a society, we can be more mindful of the individuals who are living with MS."
What does the course cover?
The free MS awareness online training course has been developed by subject-matter experts at the MS Society in conjunction with Grey Matter Learning, and is made up of eight elements, each aiming to provide a greater awareness of MS for carers. Course participants will explore the key signs and symptoms of MS, diagnosis and treatment therapies, wellbeing tips, common challenges and barriers.
Grey Matter Learning’s Managing Director, Phil Hitchcox, also hopes to encourage a wider audience to complete the course:
"By developing a deeper understanding of MS and all it encompasses, as a society, we can be more mindful of the individuals who are living with MS. I hope this course will go a long way in supporting those who work in the sector, those living with MS and their families."
